The Blue Star Contemporary Art Museum originated from a grass roots event in July of 1985, when local contemporary artists in need of an exhibition space decided to create an alternative contemporary art center. Blue Star was born and has since grown considerably. Blue Star Contemporary Art Museum has not only received national attention but today is rapidly becoming an internationally known art organization. Despite the success, Blue Star has held on to its original intent and continues to provide a lively forum for San Antonio contemporary artists and patrons alike. In 2005 Blue Star will celebrate its 20th birthday hosting the annual self-titled exhibition Blue Star 20.
